An Unfinished Business
I’m…sick. I’m terribly sick since three days before Blossom Jam would end, and so I was once again punished for delaying. Downpour is such a fun little tool and I needlessly overcomplicated it, putting off assembling everything because I told myself that I could find better patterns and symbols to photograph. I wanted to take picture of the sky outside my room, and I had taken it once upon a time. This town has such a beautiful sky.
So I fell sick. And worse, the sky from my bed was dark and rainy for the remainder of the time. I could use old picture, sure, but…
I couldn’t find my supply of origami paper, so I had to stick with my black print paper and my peach notebook. Yes, my lighting situation sucks so bad that peach-colored paper turned out super pale super sick pink, I should have done this on the floor rather than my desk, but I didn’t want to risk my cold getting worse.
And the writing… Oh gosh, the writing. Being sick means I was forced to use my old drafts for the poem from the time I had no idea how to frame them. I was, still am, utterly dissatisfied, especially after reading the excellent Rhyme’s Rooms, but migraine didn’t get me closer to think about anything else but the mechanical activities of laying out the lines on paper and photographing them.
In hindsight, I think most people wouldn’t be able to tell you’re supposed to pick one of the three lines each time. I didn’t make it obvious in Downpour, I didn’t make it obvious when laying out my pages, and I have to resort to page description.
At least I got to get this (somewhat) done and submitted, and I did have fun breaking out the art supplies I hadn’t used in a while.
Anyway, Downpour is cool. Try it out.
